Spiritual and Central Status of the Holy Places in the Islamic world
Keywords:
Holy places, empire, sacred, transcendence, strategyAbstract
The holy places are symbolic, material, social, economic and strategic capital. The centrality of the sacred places challenges the national identities and the articulations of borders and theories of colonial geography. The paper attempts to highlight the basis for acceptance of the given place to be regarded as sacred, the existential reality and the initial formation of the holy places. It also emphasizes the transcendental and divine significance of such places that contributed to the formation and positioning of these places as holy. It further attempts to explore the effects of the holy places on the formation of human morale and its reorientation according to the sacred plan. And how these symbolic places develop and shape the discourse of knowledge and renaissance, and that of revolution and liberation from colonialism?
